GRACE Receives Federal and State Grants
In 2006 GRACE received a $10,000 National Endowment for the Arts Acess to the Arts
grant to help support GRACE's community art workshops and accompanying
exhibitions for Vermont Residents. GRACE is the recipient of a $5000
National Endowment for the Humanities Preservation Assistance Grant for Small Institutions.
The 2007 grant funds will be used for a conservation assessment of the
Gayleen Aiken Collection which includes mixed media paintings and
drawings, cardboard life-size figures and handmade books.
Grants
have been secured to restore and preserve GRACE's historic National
Register building, The Old Firehouse in downtown Hardwick. A matching
grant from Vermont's Division for Historic Preservation will be used to
repair and restore the Old Firehouse belltower in 2007. Funding from
Vermont's Housing and Conservation Board will replace first and second
floor windows, exterior painting and carpentry repair, and provide
enhancements to the Old Firehouse's scenic river frontage.
